How it works

  1. Bring a transcript

Copy it from YouTube's Show transcript panel, or upload the .srt or .vtt subtitle file. Timestamps and line numbers are stripped out.

  2. Pick a language

Chrome translates on your device with its built-in translator. The first time you use a language pair, Chrome downloads the model once.

  3. Listen for 30 seconds

Your browser's voice reads the translation while the current sentence lights up. Copy the text or save it as a .txt file.

Want the whole video, not just 30 seconds?

DubbingMate reads a YouTube video's captions aloud as a live voice dub, in the language and voice you choose. It works on any video that has captions, including auto-generated ones.

  • 72-hour free trial, counted from your first dub. No card required.
  • USD 9.99, once. Lifetime license, no subscription.
  • Windows 10/11 and macOS.
  • Dubbing runs on your computer. What you watch isn't sent to an external server.

Questions

Is my transcript uploaded anywhere?

Nothing is uploaded by this page. Files are read inside your browser, and translation uses Chrome's on-device translator. Speech uses the voices your browser provides — on some browsers and systems those voices are online services, so the text being read may be processed by them.

Why does it say my browser can't translate?

On-device translation needs Chrome 138 or later on a desktop computer. In other browsers you can still hear the original text read aloud.

Why only 30 seconds?

This page is a quick preview built on browser features. For full videos, DubbingMate follows the video's captions and reads them as it plays.

A language has no voice. What can I do?

Voices come from your browser and operating system. You can add more in your system's speech or language settings, or try Chrome or Edge, which often include extra voices.
